Biblical Success Principle #1 (of 7)

Did you know that all great personal growth and development principles can be traced back to the Bible?

It’s true…every single one!

There are seven biblical success principles, in particular, that have been critically important to helping my wife, Nicole, and me build an international organization over the past eight years that now includes a team of 10,000 others doing millions of dollars in revenue each year.

I’m confident that if you’ll implement the following, you too are sure to level up both your business and your life.

Ready to hear the first one? Let’s goooooo!

I recently shared all seven on my Life’s Hard, Succeed Anyway podcast (episode 25), and after receiving such great feedback I decided to break them down into bite size pieces and share them with you, one by one each week.

So, here’s the first of these seven principles…

1. Have a Plan

Proverbs 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent certainly lead to profit, but anyone who is reckless (hasty) certainly becomes poor.”

The first success principle we see here is that we must have a plan.

Do you have a plan?

To jump into a business venture or anything else for that matter without a plan, is not following one of the clear principles we read here.

Without a roadmap and an intended destination, any road will get you there. But where is “there”?

Just as you likely wouldn’t attempt to build a house without a blueprint (a plan), it also is not wise to attempt to build a business or create a life worth living without any type of plan.

When making a life plan or business plan, it’s helpful to create it in harmony with your overall life vision.

And if you don’t have a clearly defined vision for your life, that would be a very helpful place to start first.

Too many people build a business and then realize later on that the business they built does not fit well with the lifestyle they desired to live.

It would be helpful to have a clear life vision (as clear as possible anyway) before creating your business plan so that the business can compliment, and work synergistically with the vision you have for your overall life.

Proverbs 29:18 speaks to the importance of a vision when it says, “without a vision the people perish.”

Make sure you have a clear and compelling vision for where you’re headed, why you’re headed there, and how you will get there.

Then, be intentional to create a plan for your business.

In Proverbs 16:3 we read, “Commit your activities (works) to the LORD, and your plans will be established.

Even here, we can see that it is presumptive that we have a plan.

Then, after we’ve created a plan, we are told above to commit it to God.

We should submit our plans to God to guide and direct our plans, allowing him to change them as needed, and to bless them as he chooses.

I’ll leave you with one last Proverb, written by the wealthiest man in the world of his time, King Solomon, who said (Prov 3:5,6)...

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

And lean not on your own understanding;

In all your ways acknowledge Him,

And He shall direct your paths.

Be on the lookout for next week’s Wisdom Wednesday for biblical success principle #2, dealing with relationships. It’s a great one!
