Put Your Mind’s Reticular Activating System to Work for You

May 07, 2024

Your mind’s reticular activating system is very powerful and something you should be using to maximize your success in any area of life.

Have you ever noticed that once you start focusing on something in particular, you seem to begin seeing it everywhere? Here’s an example…

Let’s say you purchase a certain vehicle, then suddenly you begin to see that particular make/model of vehicle everywhere you go. Can you relate with this experience?

This phenomenon is not just a coincidence; it's your mind's reticular activating system (RAS) at work.

So, what exactly is this RAS and how can you harness its power?

Think of it as your brain's gatekeeper. It filters the vast amount of information bombarding your senses every moment and decides what gets your attention. Essentially, it's like having a personal assistant for your awareness.

Understanding how the RAS operates can be a game-changer in living a more successful life. By consciously directing your focus, you can train your RAS to prioritize what matters most to you. Here are some practical ways to harness the power of your RAS:

  • Set clear goals: Define what you want to achieve in specific terms. Your RAS will then be on the lookout for opportunities and resources that align with your goals.
  • Visualize success: Imagine yourself accomplishing your goals vividly and frequently. This primes your RAS to recognize and seize relevant opportunities.
  • Practice gratitude: Focusing on what you're grateful for directs your RAS to notice more positive aspects of your life, fostering a mindset of abundance and possibility.
  • Surround yourself with positivity: Choose to spend time with people, media, and environments that uplift and inspire you. Your RAS will filter out negativity, helping you stay focused on your aspirations.

By understanding how your mind's RAS works and actively shaping its input, you can unlock new levels of success and fulfillment in your life. So, start training your brain's gatekeeper today, and watch as your goals become reality.
